How many would have predicted an end like this? Hillary Clinton losing to Barack Obama! Obama is in the verge of getting the democratic nomination as more and more super delegates are coming out in support of Obama who is just short of crossing the magical figure 2118.
Hillary who won the Puerto-Rico primaries also managed to win the South Dakota making it a 50-50 as Obama won the other state, Montana.
Hillary Clinton’s fiery rhetorics that the nomination will be decided only in the Demaocratic National Convenion in August is becoming very feeble as many democrats are of the opinion that her prolonged rivalry will only weaken the Obama’s run up in the November election.
Bill Clinton had already made comments that the campaign he held in the South Dakota and Montana will be his final campaign of the kind indicating that Hillary may take a bow. Not only as the presidential runner but also may turn down the Vice-President post which Obama may offer.
A sad end but a great fight. She eclipsed for once the belief that Woman cannot take the most powerful post in the world and was a front runner before the campaign started. She was beaten in a uneven fight where the media turned its interest in support of Obama and let her down badly. But she run as close as she could.
Already press has started to dissect every issue to search for the reason. Is it her old style of campaign against more refreshing Obama’s style? Is it because of Bill Clinton? Or is it just because Obama is better than her? Nobody can find a 100% satisfactory conclusion.
During the campaign trail, I felt Obama was down to earth, not talking big but talking nicely, not talking to the brain but touching the heart. That seperated him from the usual politician who never allow a citizen to understand politics. Thats where Hillary failed. She thought her experience will help her but it did not work as effectively as she expected. The word “Change we can” changed the world upside down. Hillary did not have an effective slogan. Not one that I could remember. Her campaign trail was mismanaged because their team never expected a competition of this magnitude.
Time never records how close you came to win but records only the wins. So Hillary may pass into history unless she swallows her pride and becomes Vice-president to Obama. May be she will have an another chance to run again in another 8 years time.
